Selaković: Serbia and Equatorial Guinea on the path of strengthening cooperation

Today, at the beginning of his official visit to the countries of Central Africa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Nikola Selaković, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Equatorial Guinea Siméon Oyono Esono Angue.

Addressing the press after the meeting, Minister Selaković said that today is a historic day for the relations between the two countries, because for the first time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia is visiting Equatorial Guinea. “Today, we signed many important and useful agreements for our two countries, and this is just the beginning of our good cooperation. We are friendly countries and this is not just about formal friendship. Equatorial Guinea supports Serbia in the most important national and state issue, which is the preservation of our state integrity and sovereignty” he stated.

Minister Selaković pointed out that the people of Equatorial Guinea have a reliable friend in Serbia, and expressed confidence that the two countries will benefit from mutual cooperation, exchange of experiences and improvement of economic and trade exchange.

Last year, as Minister Selaković noted, the two countries raised the level of economic cooperation and they should continue to do that, and also cooperate in all other fields. “It means that we do not support each other only formally, but that this cooperation has an effective significance, that we support each other in international forums, in international organizations, in matters of multilateral importance, as well as in matters of bilateral interest” he said.

Minister Selaković also emphasized the importance of raising the level of diplomatic cooperation and cooperation in the field of agriculture, and expressed satisfaction with the fact that Serbia has the opportunity to help the friendly people of Equatorial Guinea with 30,000 doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines.
The two ministers signed a number of interstate agreements today: Agreement on the Abolition of Visas for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports, Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation between the Two Governments, Memorandum on Cooperation of the Protocols of the Two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations, Agreement on COVID-19 virus Vaccine Donation and Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture.

Minister Selaković will also meet in Equatorial Guinea today with President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Vice President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mangue.
