Minister Djuric confers with a State Department Undersecretary
Minister Djuric highlighted the significance of a good dynamics of meetings between Serbian and U.S. officials and open dialogue at the high and top levels.
Serbia and the United States are bound by 143 years of diplomatic relations and we are ready to continue strengthening our partnership in all areas of mutual interest, the Minister said.
In this regard, Djuric noted that opening a strategic dialogue with the United States would send a strong signal of the commitment of both countries to the common goal of continuing the qualitative and quantitative enhancement of bilateral relations.
At the meeting, Djuric informed Bass of the foreign policy priorities of the new Serbian Government, including completion of key reforms on the path to EU membership by 2027, and thanked the United States for supporting Serbia's EU integration process.
When it comes to Kosovo and Metohija as an issue of the utmost national importance, Minister Djuric expressed his regret that the Pristina side continues to undermine the dialogue and any attempt by Belgrade to find a compromise solution, which the entire international public had the opportunity to see again just ten days ago in Brussels.
In this regard, he pointed out that, as before, Belgrade will remain a constructive partner in the process of normalizing relations with Pristina, but also that, on the other hand, a more active presence of the international community is needed, so that the provisional institutions of self-government in Pristina finally deliver on the commitments assumed more than a decade ago.
