Political relations
Serbia and Suriname are developing friendly relations based on the common principles of peaceful coexistence, respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of states and international law. A lot of effort has been made in recent years to improve bilateral co-operation. The foreign ministers of the two countries exchanged visits and several agreements and memoranda were signed. The former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dačić, visited Suriname on 10 February 2018, and the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname, Yldiz Pollack-Beighle, visited Serbia in the period 18–20 July 2018. Students from Suriname participate in the project The World in Serbia, and so far 15 of them have used scholarships.
Economic relations
During 2020, exports were recorded to amount to 725,000 euros and imports to 19,000 euros. In 2019, trade in goods amounted to 1.6 million euros, of which exports amounted to 1.5 million euros, and imports to 107 thousand euros.
Bilateral agreements
Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Surname on Visa Exemption for Holders of Ordinary, Diplomatic, Service/Special Passports and Passports for Public Affairs, signed on 10 February 2018.
