VISA REGIME

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
The Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Sudan have an agreed visa regime for entry, exit, transit through and stay in the territory of the Republic of Sudan. The visa regime applies to holders of national passports of both countries, as well as holders of official and diplomatic travel documents. The diplomatic consular mission of Sudan in Romania is responsible for issuing visas.
Holders of a national travel document may obtain an entry visa for Sudan through the competent diplomatic and consular mission of the Republic of Sudan in Bucharest, Romania, if their inviter (host) ― a Sudanese citizen ― has first submitted the request to the Sudanese authorities before arriving in Khartoum and provided personal guarantees to the invited visitors. The procedure takes 10–15 days and the administrative fee is 155 US dollars.
For travel purposes, the remaining period of passport validity must be at least 6 months.
Amounts in excess of 10,000 US dollars, being brought into or taken out of the country, must be declared to the competent customs authorities.

SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT
No social security agreement has been concluded.

USEFUL INFORMATION

HEALTH SITUATION — The health situation in the Republic of Sudan is very complex given that the country is in transition after democratic changes, that health care and provision of healthcare services to both the domestic population and foreign nationals are very poor and obscure. It is precisely because of such circumstances that Sudan has been receiving many humanitarian aid shipments and medicines from the United Nations, Egypt, and several other Arab countries, and may continue to receive aid until the country stabilises.

The Republic of Sudan is rich in water, but bottled water is recommended for drinking. Tap water can be used for showering and similar purposes.

The Republic of Sudan is not a tourist destination. It is mostly visited for business reasons.

SECURITY SITUATION — The security situation is complex, there is high unemployment, and the country is in a great economic crisis. The Sudanese economy has been devastated following the long sanctions imposed by the USA. As of recently, however, Sudan is no longer on the list of countries which sponsor terrorism.

TRANSPORT — The international airport is in the capital city of Khartoum. The Republic of Sudan does not have a national airline, so the flights are operated by Turkish Airlines.

OTHER INFORMATION — The local currency is the Sudanese pound. The value against hard currencies varies depending on the situation on the international market. A particular problem, however, is the high inflation which changes almost daily.
