ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
Citizens of the Republic of Serbia need a visa to travel to the Republic of Philippines. USEFUL INFORMATION
SECURITY SITUATION — On 23 May 2017, the President of the Philippines announced military rule in the Mindanao island and the surrounding Sulu Sea, in light of the fighting between the Armed Forces of the Philippines, which included the aviation, and the rebels at that time. The Armed Forces of the Philippines established stability and security, and now there is no conflict. The military rule expired at the end of 2018. The authorities continue to take preventive measures because of the occasional terrorist acts (attack on the church on the island of Jolo in January 2019), as well as the frequent kidnappings of foreigners. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid travelling to Mindanao and the Sulu Sea.
Given the high crime rate, certain parts of Manila should be avoided and local authorities' recommendations on safe parts of the city for tourists should be followed.
TRANSPORT — The largest airport is in Manila. Serbian tourists may drive in the Philippines with an international driver's license or their national (Serbian) driver's licence, since the information on it is also in English (one may drive in the Philippines with a foreign license for maximum 90 days).
OTHER INFORMATION — The national currency is the Philippine peso.
