ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
To enter the Dominican Republic, citizens of the Republic of Serbia require a valid passport and a tourist pass ― Tarjeta de Turista (for a tourist stay of up to 30 days), obtained at counters before arriving at the passport control, at the airport, port authorities, and the border with the Republic of Haiti, for a price of USD 10, cash. Immigration authorities will keep one half of the tourist pass at the entry point and take the other half at the exit point when the tourist is leaving the country. Therefore, tourists must keep the second half of the tourist pass until departure. Certain tourist agencies include the price of the tourist pass in the tourist package. Travellers must also keep a filled-out entry-and-departure form before arriving to the passport control ― Planilla de embarque y desembarque. A sum of USD 20 is paid when leaving the country (although certain airlines include the cost in the price of the airplane ticket), so travellers are advised to have this amount in cash. Travelling to the Dominican Republic with a child who does not bear the same surname as the traveller requires evidence of the family relation, with the child’s birth certificate printed on an international form. If a child is travelling with a person other than their parent, that person needs the necessary authorisation from the parent, properly certified with an Apostille seal and translated by a certified translator.

USEFUL INFORMATION
HEALTH SITUATION — There are no mandatory vaccines for travelling to this country, but it is recommended to hold a valid health insurance considering the extremely high prices of medical services. Current information on the health situation in the country can be found on the World Health Organization website: https://www.who.int/countries/dom/.
SECURITY SITUATION — Security in tourist zones which are restricted to hotel guests is good, however caution should be exercised against small cons and theft. Movement outside of these zones is not recommended due to the threat of theft, robbery and even kidnapping. There is a tendency towards cons and providing false information, so caution should be exercised.
TRANSPORT — The Dominican Republic has 7 international airports, the most important ones being in Santo Domingo, Bávaro and Puerto Plata. Bus transport (Metro Bus or Carib Tours) is acceptable, air-conditioned and comfortable. Car rental costs are approximately USD 60 per day for a mid-range car, with insurance. Persons over 25 years of age, holding a valid Serbian driver’s licence, may rent cars.
OTHER — The official currency is the Dominican peso, and the best foreign currency to use is the US dollar. All hotels, banks and exchange offices officially exchange both US dollars and euros.
