ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
Visas are required, including for holders of emergency travel documents in transit, but only if they leave the international airport zone. The passport validity period, for travel purposes, must be 6 months as of the date of planned entry. The passport must also contain two empty pages when entering the country. Currently, entering or leaving the country by airplane requires a negative result of the PCR test for COVID-19. Without it, tourists will be placed, at their expense, in hospital centres for at least 10 days.
SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT
No social security agreement has been signed.
USEFUL INFORMATION
HEALTH SITUATION — There is no mandatory vaccination for persons arriving to Botswana, except for those arriving from regions with malaria or yellow fever, as per World Health Organization regulations. Citizens of the Republic of Serbia do not need to submit vaccination certificates if arriving from Serbia.
SECURITY SITUATION — Given the high crime rate, particularly in city cores, individual movement in unsafe zones is not recommended, particularly during evening hours. In commercial centres, only secured places are recommended, most frequently within larger shopping centres. Although children's playgrounds are safe, children should not be let out of sight. All public places have secured parking and access for persons with special needs and persons in wheelchairs. The number for the police is 10111, throughout the territory.
TRANSPORT — Driving a motor vehicle requires the possession of a national driver’s licence as well as an international driving permit, i.e. an official translation of the same into English completed in the diplomatic-consular office of the Republic of Serbia in the South African Republic.
The standard requirement is that the national or the international driver’s licence was issued prior to the date of approved temporary or permanent residence.
OTHER — Electricity is 220V/50, so appropriate adaptors are necessary, purchasable in nearly any supermarket. Mobile telephones with SIM cards from the Republic of Serbia, with roaming activated, operate normally. The official language is English.
