Political relations

Close cooperation took place within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement. Since the first contacts in the 1950s, the two countries had maintained very close economic cooperation. However, exchanges of high-level visits came to a standstill following the outbreak of the crisis in the territory of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) and the imposition of sanctions on Myanmar.

The then First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, paid an official visit to Myanmar in January 2019, which was also the most recent high-level visit between the two countries.

The then Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivan Mrkić, paid an official visit to Myanmar in February 2013.

Economic relations

According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, total trade in goods with the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in 2025 amounted to EUR 31.1 million, of which exports from the Republic of Serbia accounted for EUR 45 thousand and imports for EUR 31.1 million.
