Serbia's capital candidacy for EXPO 2027 presented

A reception to present the candidacy of the Republic of Serbia for the organisation of the Specialised Expo 2027 was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić addressed the members of the diplomatic corps and presented arguments in support of the candidacy. This was followed by a presentation by Dušan Borovčanin, a member of the creative team of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the EXPO 2027 candidacy.

The following is the full text of the address delivered by Minister Dačić on the occasion of the presentation of Serbia’s candidacy for the organisation of the Specialised Expo 2027.

Excellences,

Dear friends and colleagues,

I am very pleased that today we have the opportunity to gather around this inspiring and extraordinary topic. With candidacy to organise the Specialised World Exhibition EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, through the theme of games and sports, Serbia wants to promote the spirit of cooperation, sports and fair competition and encourage everyone to try to look at the world in a different way.

We are deeply convinced that Serbia can offer a healthy environment and ideal conditions for the organisation of such a manifestation and, as you know, we have been trying to present this to all members of the International Bureau for Exhibitions for a year now.

We were the first to start preparing the candidacy and the location for the exhibition, and we showed our Government’s and our country’s firm determination to make this project a success.

Bearing in mind that the region of Southeast Europe has not hosted such a manifestation in the last 30 years, our goal is to dedicate this exhibition to its promotion, in economic, cultural, and every other sense.

We also wish to try to pay special attention to those countries and regions that have no competitors in this competition. Here, I am primarily referring to developing countries and the least developed countries, for which a special concept and program for cooperation and participation is provided.

Serbia is convinced that it offers a universal and generally accepted context for the Specialised EXPO 2027, which we expect to be very well received by almost all participants at the exhibition.

If we are chosen to host this prestigious manifestation, you can rest assured that everyone is welcome and that Serbia will prove to be a great host, which we have proven many times over the past years by hosting numerous international events and gatherings.

In this sense, we hope that the member countries of the International Bureau for Exhibitions will recognise the cosmopolitan spirit of modern Serbia and our capital and show us their support.

I would like to emphasise that we have great respect for other candidates with whom we have very good and friendly relations, which is also in line with our efforts to nurture friendships with countries from all parts of the world.
