Selaković: Serbia and Egypt continue to improve their decades-long friendship
Selaković expressed his belief that President El-Sisi's visit to Belgrade is the crown of our relations and will make a key contribution to the further development of friendship between the two countries, which is also confirmed by the publication of the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between Serbia and Egypt.
According to the head of Serbian diplomacy, our two countries are bound by a sincere friendship of many decades, which we will continue to improve through strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
As Selaković stated, the cooperation that Belgrade and Cairo achieved as the founders and pillars of the Non-Aligned Movement is strongly etched in the memory of our people, and Serbia continues to inherit the policy of friendship towards Egypt and the whole of Africa.
Minister Selaković expressed his satisfaction with the fact that during the visit of the Egyptian president, a large number of memoranda will be signed that will contribute to the further improvement of cooperation in the field of economy, culture, education and environmental protection.
During the conversation, Selaković paid special attention to the potential for improving economic cooperation, which, as he stated, is today far below the actual possibilities and interests of the two sides.
According to him, Serbia supports Egypt's initiative to hold a Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation over the next six months, and we are determined to start negotiations on concluding a free trade agreement.
Minister Selaković expressed gratitude for understanding Serbia's position regarding the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, expressing the hope that Egypt will continue to provide active support to Serbia's positions in international organizations.
