Selakovic: Need to intensify overall cooperation between Serbia and Indonesia

11. May 2021.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selakovic had talks today with Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Mochammad Chandra Widya Yudha.

Selakovic noted that the bilateral relations between Serbia and Indonesia were good and traditionally friendly, reminding that they dated back to the period of the formation of the Non-Aligned Movement and close cooperation between Presidents Tito and Sukarno.

He said that Serbia was committed to their further promotion and that visits at the top and high levels, as well as the enhancement of economic, military and technical cooperation, would make a particular contribution to this end.

The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed hope that opportunities to visit Indonesia would be created in the near future, but also that his counterpart, Minister Retno Marsudi, would pay an official visit to Serbia.

Furthermore, the collocutors discussed the holding of the Fifth Round of Bilateral Political Consultations, which should take place in Belgrade.

Selakovic thanked Indonesia for its position concerning non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo and for the constant support extended to Serbia in international organizations.

Serbia wishes to intensify its economic relations with Indonesia and increase the volume of trade in goods, Selakovic said, citing joint participation on third markets as an additional possibility.

Selakovic called on Indonesian investors to strengthen their presence on our market and, in that regard, pointed out the possibility of holding the Serbia-Indonesia Business Forum in 2021.
