Selaković congratulates on Africa Day
Minister Selaković noted that Africa Day had been traditionally marked in Serbia as the Friendship Day with the Peoples of Africa, as a way of nurturing and preserving cooperation with African countries.
In the congratulatory message to his African colleagues, which the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to UNESCO had distributed to the Permanent Delegations of African countries to UNESCO, Minister Selaković stressed that Serbia was strongly encouraging UNESCO's support for Africa and deeply believed that UNESCO's Priority Africa was contributing not only to the further development and progress of African countries but also to UNESCO itself. To that end, as Minister Selaković explained, Serbia has accepted the invitation to be one of the founders of the Friendship Group of UNESCO`s Priority Africa. “Serbia firmly supports all initiatives aimed at strengthening cultural, economic, and political ties with African countries, both at the bilateral and multilateral level. With utmost respect, I place special emphasis on UNESCO which provides considerable space to improve our cooperation which is based on the principles of solidarity, tolerance, and mutual respect", he said.
Minister Selaković concluded his congratulatory message by confirming that the scholarship program for young people from African countries to study at the Serbian universities would be expanded ― a direct incentive to the young generation who would inherit and continue the traditionally friendly and mutual supportive relations between Serbia and African countries in the future.
