Minister Selaković talked with the Abbot of Hilandar
Archimandrite Metodije gave his blessing to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, which will celebrate the feast day of the Transfer of the Relics of Saint Sava as its official patron saint's day from next year, which is marked on 19 May according to the new calendar, and 6 May according to the old one.
Minister Selaković pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will proudly mark the holiday, remembering the work of Saint Sava, who, in addition to being the first archbishop of the autocephalous Serbian Orthodox Church, was also the first known great Serbian diplomat.
Minister Selaković pointed out that he personally, as well as the institution he heads, cares very much about having official relations with the Hilandar Monastery, both through the activities of our Consulate General in Thessaloniki and through the appointment of a diplomat for relations with Sveta Gora, who will work from Thessaloniki from next year.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of including the Hilandar Monastery this year in the celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag, which is celebrated on 15 September, in memory of the breakthrough on the Thessaloniki Front.
The interlocutors exchanged experiences on the epidemiological situation and talked about the functioning of the Hilandar Monastery during the pandemic of the corona virus and during the works on the reconstruction of the monastery.
