16. Jul 2024.
Today, as part of his visit to the Czech Republic, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric visited the Memorial Ossuary and the Serbian Military Cemetery at Jindřichovice, the site of the largest concentration camp in Austria-Hungary during the First World War.

Pointing out that he is honoured to be the first Serbian minister to visit this place of suffering after many years, Djuric reminded the Serbian soldiers buried at Jindřichovice outnumbered their compatriots resting in the Zeitenlik memorial ossuary.

"In this memorial ossuary in 7,100 wooden caskets rest the remains of 7,100 Serbian heroes and martyrs who died in the Jindřichovice camp, and in the camps of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, on the territory of today's Czech Republic", Djuric said.

Djuric pointed out that it was incumbent upon anyone who wanted to call themselves a Serb, to come here on a pilgrimage, in order to become aware of the greatness of the sacrifice made for the existence of our homeland, Serbia, by brave Serbian young men from Valjevo, Sumadija and from all over Serbia.

Speaking about the fostering of culture of remembrance of our famous ancestors, who gave their lives for freedom, the Minister also expressed his gratitude to the custodian of the Serbian military cemetery and ossuary in Jindřichovice, who takes care that the memory of Serbian heroes is preserved.

"The most important thing is that all our organized trips, and people who come to see the beautiful Czech Republic, be aware that the bones of 7,100 Serbian heroes and martyrs, who gave their lives for our homeland Serbia, rest here", Djuric concluded.
