01. Oct 2024.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Marko Đurić met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Annalena Baerbock on the margins of the Berlin Process ministerial meeting held today.

Serbia highly values the active participation and contribution of Germany to the "Berlin Process", a forum that provides concrete projects to support the European integration of Serbia and the Western Balkans as a whole, Minister Đurić emphasized during the meeting.

Đurić pointed out that overall relations between Serbia and Germany were very advanced and characterized by excellent political and economic cooperation.

He particularly emphasized the importance of regular dialogue maintained at the high and top levels, and he referred with pleasure to the recent visit by Chancellor Olaf Scholz to our country.

The Minister welcomed the fact that the two countries’ economic cooperation was developing dynamically year in and year out, through the growing exchange of goods and services, the constant inflow of investments from German companies, and German financial support provided through development aid programs.

The Minister specifically spoke about the economic results of our country, underlining that Serbia was the most promising and dynamic economy of the Western Balkans today and a kind of engine of regional development.

EU membership represents a strategic commitment and priority of Serbia's foreign policy, emphasized Đurić and added that Serbia stood for European values and sought to contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in Europe.

When it comes to dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Đurić reiterated that Belgrade was committed to the dialogue, but that Pristina, from the very beginning, showed extreme lack of constructiveness and an unwillingness to implement agreements, especially those related to the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities.

The Minister warned that instead of that, Pristina was resorting to unilateral measures in order to fundamentally change the situation on the ground and to encourage mass exodus of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, by violating their human, political and economic rights.

Speaking about regional cooperation, Minister Đurić reiterated that our country supported all regional processes and initiatives, and pointed out that they contribute to the process of reconciliation, give additional impetus to the development of the region and encourage overall development on our path to full membership of the EU.
