On the fringes of the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting held in the Kingdom of Tonga, the head of Serbian diplomacy, Marko Đurić, had talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Trade of Tuvalu, Paulson Panapa.

“Serbia is developing long-term relations with the Pacific due to the common values we share with countries such as Tuvalu, which may be geographically distant but have the same desire to be politically independent, economically relevant and interconnected,” said Đurić.

In that context, he emphasized the importance of an intensified dynamic of political dialogue, as well as collaborative work on programs and projects that have tangible benefits for citizens, at both the bilateral and multilateral levels.

In addition to the invitation to visit Serbia in the period ahead, Minister Đurić conveyed to his interlocutor that Serbia, as the host, would greatly appreciate Tuvalu's participation in the Pacific Pavilion, which will be specially prepared for the island states of this region at the upcoming EXPO 2027 specialized exhibition in Belgrade.

Discussing potential areas of future cooperation, Đurić underlined, in addition to the economy, the possibility of providing support to Tuvalu in digital transformation, especially in the domain of e-government.
