Minister Dacic receives a farewell call from the Ambassador of Spain

Minister Dacic thanked Ambassador Molina for his engagement and personal contribution to the intensification of political dialogue and the development of overall relations between Serbia and Spain, recalling that it was during his term-of-office that the historic visit by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez took place in July last year, as the first official visit to Serbia by a Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, as did the visit by President Aleksandar Vucic to Madrid, in February the same year, when he met with Spanish King Felipe VI.

Both sides agreed that the political relations between the two countries were excellent and without open issues, with mutual support on matters of vital national interest for both countries, and good prospects for their further enhancement. Minister Dacic pointed out that significant progress had also been made in the area of economic cooperation, as well as that foreign trade between the two countries exceeded one billion euros for the first time last year. Minister Dacic expressed special gratitude for the firm position of Spain when it comes to respecting our territorial integrity and sovereignty, that is, for its principled position concerning non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, as well as for the continuous support it lent to the European integration of Serbia.

The Spanish Ambassador thanked Minister Dacic for the assistance and support he had during his tenure. He particularly emphasized that Spain's position regarding Kosovo and Metohija was firm and principled, as well as that his country supported the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, but that it would never support the recognition of the self-proclaimed "Kosovo".

Ambassador Molina pointed out the need to further deepen economic cooperation between the two countries and, in this connection, emphasized the importance of the ongoing practice of holding business forums and of the Framework Protocol on Financial and Technical Cooperation signed between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Kingdom of Spain in the field of infrastructure projects, which should contribute to an increase in Spanish investments.
