Minister Dacic meets with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK Caroline Ziadeh
At the meeting, which was held in the context of the upcoming meeting of the UN Security Council on UNMIK, the interlocutors discussed the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija and the atmosphere of heightened tensions.
Minister Dacic voiced concerns over the recent tragic events and the highly sensitive security and political situation in the province. He reiterated that, as in the past, Serbia was advocating de-escalation, preservation of peace and respect of previous agreements. He added that there was still no progress in implementation of commitments undertaken by the other side and that that led to a rise of tensions on the ground. He emphasized that the upcoming UN Security Council meeting was of great significance to Serbia in view of continued unilateral moves by Pristina resulting in growing instability in the province and further threats to the fundamental human rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
Caroline Ziadeh noted the significance of holding consultations ahead of the UN Security Council meeting. Commenting on the recent tragic events in the province, she called for an adequate and transparent investigation.
She underlined that the UN fully supported the dialogue facilitated by the European Union.
