Minister Dacic congratulates the citizens of Serbia on Statehood Day
“Exactly 220 years ago, in Orasac, Serbia set out on the path of fighting for freedom and building its modern state. Sretenje is our biggest national holiday when we celebrate the centuries-old aspiration of our people for freedom and independence and when we remember all those who made themselves part of the national tradition of Serbia.
Every 15 February, we have something to be proud of, because Serbia is a strong and free country, and our people has a clear perspective of living in peace and constant progress.
Sretenje always reminds us how important it is to protect our freedom and our independence, because they are not given to us forever, we always need to nurture them and defend them if necessary. This is also the case today, when our generation faces great challenges, which we address while thinking of our famous ancestors, and even more so of our young generations, who are the future of Serbia.
I wish all the citizens of Serbia a happy Statehood Day, to spend it in peace and family harmony, and that we continue building a free, independent and strong Serbia together”, reads the congratulatory message from Ivica Dacic on the occasion of Statehood Day.
