Gouillon visits Serbs in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The packages included textbooks, workbooks, reading materials, the Serbian language textbooks, balls for various sports, as well as a set for table tennis, as stated in the announcement by the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region.
Gouillon said that the Directorate supported the organisation of additional classes for Serbian children from Mostar and the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, because they did not have the opportunity to receive education in their mother tongue.
“We want for the children to develop an awareness of the Serbian language, culture, and history, and to preserve the cultural identity of Serbs in this area”, Gouillon said.
As part of his working visit to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 6 to 8 June, Arnaud Gouillon visited the Day Centre for Children and Youth with Special Needs of the Association “My Hope” in Nevesinje and donated a laptop to the teachers and toys adapted for the children with special needs.
In Mostar, he also met with City Councillor Velibor Milivojević, members of the Coordination of Serbs, and representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Gouillon also visited the Serb returnees in the settlement of Baćevići, the monastery Žitomislić from the 15th century, as well as the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Prebilovci, which was built in memory of 4,000 Serbs from that area who were killed by the Ustashas in World War II, as further stated in the announcement.
