Friendship, understanding and mutual support of Serbia and Mexico

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, has met today in Mexico the Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon.

Selaković said that the relations of the two countries were characterized by true friendship, mutual understanding, respect and support. He highlighted that the evidence to long-term connections of Serbia and Mexico is the fact that this year we celebrated 75th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed great pleasure with the fact that after ten-year period a Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia was in bilateral visit to Mexico, and on this occasion he expressed hope that in the following period we would have the opportunity to be hosts in Serbia to Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Minister Casaubon.

At the meeting the specific steps for further strengthening of friendly relations and cooperation of Serbia and Mexico and particularly economic cooperation were discussed.

Ministers agreed that it was of essential importance for the intensification of cooperation in the economic aspect to conclude as soon as possible the agreement on the promotion and protection of investments, double taxation as well as visa cancellation of citizens of Serbia.

Moreover, on this occasion the Serbian Foreign Minister invited investors from Mexico to invest in Serbia.

Selaković thanked Mexico for its solid support to Serbia with regards to the preservation of our territorial integrity and sovereignty and commitment to the observance of fundamental principles of the international law as well as the support to efforts invested by President Vučić and our Government into solving of the issue of Kosovo and Metohija using peaceful means.

Talking about cooperation of the two ministries of foreign affairs, Selaković indicated to the importance of regular communication and contacts through regular holding of political consultations and cooperation of the two diplomatic academies.
