Foreign Ministry issues a Verbal Note in response to a ban on Deputy PM Vulin’s visit to Prebilovci

05. Aug 2024.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia delivered a note verbale to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina today, expressing its dissatisfaction as Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin was prevented from attending the opening of an exhibition in Prebilovci that commemorates the suffering of the Serbian people in World War II.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin was set to visit the exhibition “Prebilovci 1941” at the organizers’ invitation, however, the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina failed to grant the required permit for the Serbian delegation’s aircraft to land in Mostar, despite having been timely informed of the visit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia is disappointed with the decision of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina not to allow the participation of our delegation in a commemorative event, because such a decision is not in the spirit of good-neighbourly relations and civilizational values.

We urge the authorities in Sarajevo to cease using regional and interethnic relations within Bosnia and Herzegovina as a platform for detrimental daily political activities which steer their own country away from the course of progress and European integration.

Today's decision of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina undoubtedly represents a violation of good-neighbourly diplomatic practice and contributes to creating an atmosphere of intolerance towards the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian people as a whole.
