Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric met today in Austria with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell after a meeting of foreign ministers of the informal group "Friends of Western Balkans" and partners from the Western Balkans.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy emphasized that membership in the European Union is a strategic commitment and priority of Serbia's foreign policy, pointing out that our country shares and advocates European values as well as that it wishes to contribute to the peace, stability and prosperity of Europe.

Referring to the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Djurić pointed out that Belgrade is fully committed to the EU-facilitated dialogue with Pristina, assessing that at this moment it is necessary, above all, to ensure the safety of the Serb population and without further delay to implement all commitments from the agreements reached so far.

Emphasizing that the situation regarding Kosovo and Metohija is extremely difficult, Djuric pointed out that the Serbs are suffering unbearable pressure as a result of the culmination of long-term and systematic unilateral actions by the Pristina authorities.

Speaking about the importance of regional cooperation, the Minister underlined that Serbia attaches great attention to its improvement and fostering the best possible neighbourly relations, especially emphasizing that preserving peace and stability in the region is of key interest to Serbia.
