Đurić with the Director of the Department for International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Đurić, held talks with the Director of the Department for International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Kirill Mikhailovich Logvinov, who is heading the Russian delegation at the consultations on multilateral issues held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Emphasizing the importance of continuity of dialogue and meetings at the highest and senior levels, Minister Đurić particularly referred to the recent meeting between President Vučić and President Putin in Beijing, underlining that it confirmed the mutual readiness to preserve the traditionally close ties between the two countries.

Minister Đurić assessed as highly beneficial the fact that today’s consultations on cooperation within the United Nations system are taking place in the lead-up to the General Debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. He stressed that Serbia considers the United Nations the most important international organization, particularly with regard to the protection of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Serbian Foreign Minister reiterated Serbia’s commitment to the priority areas of UN engagement, while also conveying readiness to continue the good cooperation with the Russian Federation in this forum.

On this occasion as well, Minister Đurić expressed gratitude for the principled position of the Russian Federation concerning Kosovo and Metohija.
