The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republica of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met this evening in The Hague with the Dutch Foreign Minister, Caspar Veldkamp.

Đurić indicated that while relations between Serbia and the Netherlands are good, there is a need for further engagement in building relations in areas of mutual interest, as there is significant potential for enhancing cooperation, both politically and economically.

Minister Đurić emphasized that Serbia’s primary foreign policy goal is full EU membership, and that Serbia is ready to assume part of Europe's burden, not just the benefits that EU membership brings.

He also noted that Serbia pays great attention to enhancing regional cooperation, explaining that it contributes to the reconciliation process and provides additional momentum for the development of the region in various segments, thereby fostering overall development on our path to full EU membership. Đurić reminded that Serbia actively participates in preventing illegal migrations and closely cooperates with the EU through Frontex in this area.

Speaking of Serbia’s significant economic progress over the past decade, Đurić pointed out that our country is at the very top of Europe in terms of economic growth, despite all crises and global challenges.

Minister Đurić highlighted that the Netherlands is an important economic partner and one of the leading foreign investors in Serbia, with whom, he emphasized, we wish to further strengthen cooperation by expanding from traditional areas of trade and investment to new technological sectors.

The head of Serbian diplomacy also noted that Belgrade will host the Specialized Expo 2027 and invited the Netherlands to participate in this significant international event.

Regarding the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Đurić informed his counterpart about the very difficult position of our people in the province and the series of unilateral actions by Priština, stressing that Serbia expects the international community to ensure the rights and security of Serbs, and create conditions for the continuation of productive dialogue between Belgrade and Priština.
