Đurić and Scarpaleggia Discuss Strengthening Serbia–Canada Relations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić emphasized during his meeting with Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada Francis Scarpaleggia that Serbia remains committed to advancing overall relations and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Đurić welcomed the establishment of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Serbia in the Parliament of Canada, stressing that stronger parliamentary dialogue and closer ties among parliamentarians are important for the development of overall bilateral and political relations.

Speaking about economic cooperation, Đurić recalled that a number of Canadian companies are successfully operating in Serbia and invited Canadian business representatives to increase their investments in the Serbian market.

He also noted that the Canada–Serbia Business Forum, taking place tomorrow in Toronto, represents a valuable opportunity for connecting companies and establishing new partnerships.

The Minister particularly underlined the importance of the large Serbian diaspora in Canada, describing it as an important bridge of cooperation between the two countries.

The head of Serbian diplomacy reiterated Serbia’s invitation to Canada to participate in the specialised Expo 2027 exhibition, for which participation has so far been confirmed by 137 countries, and extended an invitation to the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada to visit Serbia.
