Decades of sincere friendship between Serbia and Ghana

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana Shirley Botchway in Accra.

The Minister expressed his satisfaction with the fact that there were no open issues in our bilateral relations, instead, he further pointed out, our relations had been characterized by decades of friendship, respect and complete mutual understanding on the most important issues.

According to him, the political relations of the two countries are not only based on a long tradition, which goes back to the foundation of the Non-Aligned Movement, but also on the fact that we are loyal to the same values ​​in international relations.

In this sense, Selaković thanked Ghana for the support it provides to Serbia with regards to Kosovo and Metohija.

The Minister said that our willingness to improve bilateral relations was also confirmed by the decision to reopen the Embassy of Serbia in Accra after twenty-one years, and expressed hope that Ghana would soon restore the work of its embassy in Belgrade.

Selaković pointed out that the intensification of our bilateral relations at all levels paves the way for cooperation across numerous areas, and that we should especially work on improving our economic cooperation, thereby further suggesting potential in agriculture, construction, water management, IT and other areas.

Minister Selaković and Minister Botchway signed the Agreement on visa abolition for diplomatic and official passports, after which they will jointly attend the opening ceremony of the Serbian Embassy in Accra later today.
