Dačić with the Ambassador of Israel
At the beginning of the talks, Ambassador of Israel Yahel Vilan, expressed his condolences over the recent tragic events in Belgrade and conveyed feelings of compassion and solidarity with the families of the victims.
Views were exchanged on the state of bilateral relations and the possibilities for their improvement. The head of Serbian diplomacy, Ivica Dačić, expressed regrets over Israel's decision to recognise the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called “Kosovo”, which negatively impacted our bilateral relations, but he pointed out that despite this, common interests should be sought, primarily for the sake of benefits to our two nations, which had often shared a tragic fate throughout history, especially during the Second World War.
During the talks, interest in continuation of economic cooperation that has been on rise in recent years, with growing Israeli investments, was expressed. Israel is one of the most important investors in our country, particularly in the area of transport and real estate construction. Dačić said he hoped the recent introduction of direct flights between Belgrade and Tel Aviv would have a positive impact on both economic and tourist exchange between the two countries.
Views were also exchanged on the situation in Israel. Dačić pointed out that Serbia supported the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the Middle East, and that he hoped in the future a way would be found to reach an agreement that would contribute to a better life for all people in that region.
