The state-economic delegation of the Republic of Serbia, led by State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nikola Stojanović, has commenced a visit to the State of Libya, during which they will meet with a range of Libyan state officials and participate in the Libyan-Serbian Business Forum in Tripoli.

On the first day of the visit, at the office of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, the Serbian delegation met with Libya's Minister of Transportation and the Deputy Minister of Finance, as well as the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister for Economic and Development Projects, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, and Dr. Mustafa Mana, Special Advisor for Economy and Investments and a member of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Investment Agency.

A meeting was also held with a member of the Libyan Parliament and President of the Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce, Mohammed Al-Raied.

During substantive and constructive discussions, the decades-long friendship between the two nations was acknowledged, and it was noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

In this context, the interlocutors welcomed the intensification of cooperation between the two countries, noting that the relations between Serbia and Libya were further strengthened by the reopening of the Serbian Embassy in Tripoli last year.

Both sides expressed openness and readiness to invest additional efforts to enhance economic relations and facilitate the return of Serbian enterprises to the Libyan market.

The focus of the discussions was on cooperation in the fields of construction, transportation, food industry, geological exploration, and ICT, with the host noting that Libya's needs for foreign investments and partnership cooperation span virtually all sectors, which will also be among the topics of discussion at the upcoming business forum.

The visit of the Serbian state-economic delegation to the State of Libya is being conducted in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia and Serbian entrepreneurs interested in expanding their business into the Libyan market.
