RTS – Dačić: We keep talking about putting out fire, it shows that Kurti does not want an agreement
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić says that the agreements already signed should be implemented first. According to him, the policy of derecognition will continue.
Messages are coming from Brussels and Washington that Serbia should now take advantage of the momentum generated to talk about the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Priština. Ambassador Hill sees an opportunity for that already after the holidays.
On the other hand, Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić is of the opinion that this is an extremely optimistic view given that the other party is Albin Kurti.
„We can only expect a new issue that would be a new source of potential escalation. Evidently, the very fact that we talk all the time about putting out fire shows that Kurti does not want an agreement. When representatives of the international community come to talk to Vučić and me, they say they are aware that it is difficult to reach an agreement while Kurti is in power“, said Dačić.
As noted, the international community has never given stronger guarantees that the Serbs will be protected. However, Dačić points out that trust in the international community has been broken.
„The level of trust in representatives of the international community has been considerably damaged. What we discussed nine years ago is still relevant. The main topic for us is not achieving or expecting to reach some final agreement on Kosovo and Metohija, it is the implementation of what was agreed long ago - formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO), including all those things that could bring instability, as we have witnessed to these days, – the way of regulating the situation in the north of Kosovo and Metohija and the terms of presence of the Kosovo police,“ said Dačić.
