Political Consultations between Serbia and Estonia
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia was led by Ambassador Tamara Rastovac Siamashvili, Acting Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation, and included Katarina Lalić Smajević, Acting Assistant Minister for Multilateral Cooperation, Miloš Todorović, Acting Assistant Minister for the European Union, Milena Mitić, Head of the Europe Department, and Aleksandar Janković, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Finland.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia was led by Ambassador Siri Koningsberg, Director General for European Affairs, with the participation of Raul Thomas, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Serbia.
Both sides assessed that bilateral relations between the two countries are good and pointed to the potential for further intensification of political dialogue and enhancement of cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation in the fields of economy, e-government, digitalization, and cybersecurity.
The interlocutors highlighted the importance of holding regular political consultations as an important mechanism for strengthening the overall relations between Serbia and Estonia. Discussions also covered the process of European integration of the Republic of Serbia, the reform process, as well as the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue conducted under the auspices of the European Union.
The delegations also exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine and broader international and security challenges. They further discussed regional cooperation in the Western Balkans and issues of multilateral cooperation, including cooperation within international organizations, with particular reference to the work of the Council of Europe.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia also held a separate meeting with Martin Roger, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
