Mr. Starović's lecture on Serbian foreign policy to the students of the Oslo University
Mr. Starović introduced the students to the historical, geographic and geo-strategic position of Serbia, pointing out the former status of Serbia within the SFRY. He also explained the chronology of political events in this region during the 1990s and the causes and consequences of the NATO aggression on FR Yugoslavia.
State Secretary Starović dedicated special attention to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, starting from the declaration of independence of the so-called "Kosovo" in February 2008, emphasizing that it was passed contrary not only to international law and the Helsinki Final Act, but also to the UN Security Council Resolution No. 1244. Mr. Starović spoke in detail about the pogrom of the Serbian population, about the Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo and Metohija, the current status of the Serbs and of their property in the southern Serbian province.
State Secretary Starović also briefed Norwegian students on Serbia's European path, on the advancement of its economy and the successful reforms introduced in many areas over the past seven years - highlighting especially the benefits of the Open Balkans initiative,.
The lecture held at the Ministry was attended by 81 students from the University of Oslo - this being an integral part of their study trip and visit to Serbia.
