10. Apr 2025.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Dušan Kozarev, met today with the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Benin, Mr. Benoît Dato.

Emphasizing Serbia’s longstanding tradition of fostering brotherly relations with African countries, Kozarev highlighted the mutual understanding and shared values between the Serbian people and the peoples of Africa, recalling Serbia’s historical support for their struggles for liberation from colonialism.

He noted that sports, as an area of national importance for both countries, represent an excellent platform for advancing other forms of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of education, culture, and economy.

In this context, he placed special emphasis on the "World in Serbia" scholarship program, which is already being successfully implemented, and extended an invitation to young athletes from Benin to participate in team sports camps in Serbia.

Kozarev briefed his interlocutor on Serbia’s dynamic development, the successful implementation of infrastructure projects, and the vision and plans for the future laid out by President Aleksandar Vučić and the Government of Serbia—plans supported internationally through the work of Serbia’s diplomatic network led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić.

He also underscored that EXPO 2027, which will be hosted by Belgrade, will provide an excellent opportunity for Benin to showcase its rich cultural and sporting heritage.

It was jointly noted that Serbia and Benin share a strong commitment to significantly improving the living standards of their citizens through strategic investments in comprehensive modernization, while remaining firmly dedicated to the principles of foreign policy independence and equitable international relations.
