Kozarev in Athens with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece

29. Sep 2025.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met in Athens with Dimitris Skalkos, Secretary General responsible for international economic cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece.

It was concluded that economic cooperation, particularly trade between the two countries, while traditionally good, does not fully reflect the closeness of the two states and peoples, and that there remains significant potential for further mutual encouragement of business ties.

Issues in the field of transport were also discussed, with reference to the announced plans to increase the capacity of Greek border crossings in anticipation of expected longer waiting times following the introduction of the new Schengen Entry/Exit System, while the broader importance of connecting Budapest, Belgrade, Thessaloniki, and Athens by high-speed rail was also underscored.

Diversification of energy sources and securing stable supply lines of energy products remain important common topics in the context of current global developments.

Kozarev expressed gratitude to his interlocutor for Greece’s confirmed participation in EXPO 2027, as well as for the firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia with regard to Kosovo and Metohija, and for the unconditional assistance that official Athens extends to our country on its path toward membership in the European Union.
