Jovanović at the meeting on “Women, Peace and Security”

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nevena Jovanović, took part in a high-level meeting on “Women, Peace and Security”, organized by the Kingdom of Morocco on the margins of this year’s session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In her address, State Secretary Jovanović underscored the importance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 as a key document that establishes the role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts, as well as in peacebuilding and peacekeeping. She emphasized that the comprehensive implementation of this resolution is of essential importance for strengthening peace, security, and stability at the global level.

Jovanović presented the experiences of the Republic of Serbia in drafting and implementing National Action Plans for the application of Resolution 1325, highlighting the importance of institutional cooperation, the full participation of women in decision-making processes, and the necessity of empowering their role in conflict prevention and the building of lasting and sustainable peace.
