15. Oct 2025.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nevena Jovanović, today received a group of students from Northeastern University in Boston, who are visiting Serbia as part of a study program.

Jovanović presented Serbia’s foreign policy priorities, emphasizing that our country consistently pursues a policy of openness and cooperation with all member states of the United Nations, firmly advocating respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, as well as adherence to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

She particularly highlighted that Serbia, as a country sharing borders with eight neighbors, is guided by the conviction that a stable and secure environment forms the foundation of a successful foreign policy. For this reason, regional cooperation and the preservation of peace remain among Serbia’s foremost priorities.

Speaking about multilateralism, Jovanović recalled that Serbia actively contributes to multilateral cooperation and was among the countries that helped shape the post-war international order and establish the United Nations.

Referring to the process of European integration, she underlined that membership in the European Union represents Serbia’s strategic commitment. In that context, she informed the students about the current state of accession negotiations and the reform activities being implemented to align Serbia with EU standards.

Discussing the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue, Jovanović stressed that Serbia continues to demonstrate its constructiveness, while unfortunately the Pristina side persists in taking unilateral actions that further worsen the position of the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija.

During the discussion with the students, topics also included Serbia’s foreign policy positioning amid current geopolitical developments, the very good relations between Serbia and the United States, as well as the Specialized International Exhibition EXPO 2027, which Jovanović described as an important opportunity for Serbia’s international visibility, economic growth, and promotion of its business potential.

State Secretary Jovanović wished the students a pleasant stay in Serbia and expressed hope that they would gladly return to the country in the future.
