Bilateral consular consultations between MFAs of Serbia and Montenegro

Bilateral consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, at the level of Assistant Ministers for Consular Affairs, were carried out earlier today in Podgorica.

Delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia was headed by the Acting Assistant Minister for Consular Affairs, Ambassador Mirjana Živković, while the Delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro was headed by the Acting Director-General of the Directorate General for Consular and Diaspora Affairs, Ambassador Stanica Popović.

During the consultations, opinions on mutual closer cooperation, contractual status in the consular affairs area and the application of the Agreement on mutual representation in the provision of consular protection and services in third countries, were exchanged.

The two ministries will continue intensive cooperation for the alignment of national regulations in the consular area with the EU acquis, mutual consular representation, particularly in the field of consular protection and visa issuance processes, as well as modernisation of consular work.

Consular consultations were meaningful and carried out in the spirit of friendly relations.
