Dačić: Kurti is constantly setting fires, Serbs in North Kosovo will have the support of their country

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić told RTS that Albin Kurti is constantly setting fires, but that the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija will have the support of their country. “They can be sure that we will make maximum diplomatic efforts, I do hope only diplomatic and political efforts, to protect our people in Kosovo and Metohija, and others, of course, if necessary,” Dačić said.

Appearing in RTS Morning News, Ivica Dačić said that in the coming days, Serbia expects “a condensation of all kinds of pressure, adding that there are red lines that cannot be crossed.

“What are the red lines? First, there are no negotiations on what has already been agreed upon. Second, there is no recognition of Kosovo’s independence or membership in the United Nations. Third, stop all attacks or endangering the security of Serbs. Those are the red lines,” Dačić pointed out.

He conveyed a message to the Serbs who were on the barricades this morning that their country is with them.

“They will certainly not be left without the support of their country. They can be sure that we will make maximum diplomatic efforts, I do hope only diplomatic and political efforts, to protect our people in Kosovo and Metohija, and others, of course, if necessary,” Dačić said.

He pointed out that Serbia is ready for peace, but the other side must be ready for it as well.

Kurti is an offspring of the international community

Dačić pointed out that the Prime Minister of the provisional institutions of Pristina, Albin Kurti, is constantly setting fires, which is tolerated by representatives of the international community, because, as he said, he is their child, their offspring.

“West is aware about who can cause instability,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs said.

He stated that in the coming days, the advisor to the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, as well as the Ministers of State for Europe of France and Great Britain, are coming to Serbia.

Minister Dačić said that Pristina has completely violated the Washington Agreement and that, after applying for membership to the Council of Europe, it will apply for membership in the EU on December 15 in Brussels.

“Pristina representatives will submit an application for membership to the European Union on December 15, at least that's what they are announcing in Brussels,” Dačić said.

“There is a possibility that the EU may challenge it, even though there is no majority, because it is not likely that a majority vote will be taken, instead a consensus will be needed if someone refers to the issue of the status. The Czech Republic is the chair, and the application is addressed to them. It is up to them whether that application will be initially rejected due to the status issue, or sent to the European Commission for opinion, so they can discuss it for a year,” Dačić said.

We are clearing things up regarding Resolution 1244

The Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that the request to KFOR for the return of members of the Serbian Armed Forces to Kosovo and Metohija sent by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Serbian Government, is an effort to “clear things up” before the international community and find out whether the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 has been fully implemented.

“We know that these are rhetorical questions, that is, we know the answer. They’ve been trying to play down the relevance of the Brussels Agreement, and now they are doing the same with Resolution 1244,” Dačić said.

He says that the international community will not fully respect or implement Resolution 1244, but that it cannot repel it due to the needed majority at the UN Security Council, and Pristina had already sought its abolition several times, including the abolition of Unmik and Kfor.

“They cannot repeal the resolution, but they will not fully respect or implement it,” the minister said.

Dačić said that by requesting the return of the Serbian army and police to the north Kosovo, Serbia wants to indicate that the international community has an obligation to protect all citizens of Kosovo and Metohija.

“All representatives of the international community say the same thing, which of course we were asked not to repeat, and that is that they are aware that as long as Kurti is there, there will be no peace or any agreement with Pristina, and that they are aware that Kurti is the biggest destabilising factor in the region at the moment,” Dačić said.
