Yerevan: Interview of the Ambassador Panajotović Cvetković for the “Hayastan“ Newspaper
In the interview published in the latest issue under the title “Committed to Friendship of Serbia and Armenia“, Ambassador emphasised the importance of respect for traditionally close and friendly relations between the two countries and cultural connections between the two peoples.
She reflected back on the first contacts of the two countries in the 13th century, which have deepened over the centuries through cooperation, primarily at the cultural and Christian tradition levels, and have been particularly strengthened at the beginning of the 20th century, when a large number of Armenian refugees came to Serbia.
Ambassador spoke about her impressions and work experience in Armenia since her arrival in Yerevan in 2019, and opening of the Serbian Embassy in Yerevan, pointing to the beauty of this Caucasus country, numerous similarities and differences between two countries, and significant level of affection and solidarity, which are particularly pronounced in difficult moments.
She presented Serbia to Armenian readers through the current affairs on internal and external political agenda, with emphasis on European integration and regional initiatives, as well as the results and priorities in the field of economy.
She put emphasis on the plans for further bilateral cooperation – political dialogue and cooperation in the fields of economy, tourism, culture, education, sports, etc.
Ambassador spoke of the intention to deepen relations further through the expected opening of the Armenian diplomatic office in Belgrade, direct airline connection between Serbia and Armenia, teaching and learning Serbian language in Armenia, strengthening connections at the local level and particularly through contacts of young people, with the aim of better understanding and exchange between the two countries.
