Tokyo: Meeting of Ambassador Kovač with Archbishop Seraphim of Sendai

28. Jun 2022.
Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Japan Aleksandra Kovač visited the Holy Annunciation Cathedral in the city of Sendai on Vidovdan and met with Archbishop Seraphim of Sandai, head of the Eastern Japan Diocese.

In a cordial conversation it was pointed out that friendship between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Japanese Orthodox Church contributed to the strengthening ties between the two countries during 140 years of bilateral relations.

It was concluded that the solidarity and help of the citizens of Serbia after the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit the Tohoku region in 2011 in which Sendai is located, has strengthened the friendship between the two peoples in a special way.

Ambassador Kovač thanked Archbishop Seraphim for his continuous support for the protection of the endangered Serbian religious and cultural heritage in Kosovo and Metohija.

During the tour of the Holy Annunciation Cathedral, Archbishop Seraphim presented the Ambassador with a brochure about Visoki Dečani Monastery, as well as a book of thoughts by Bishop Nikolaj Velimirović, translated into Japanese and available to believers and church visitors.
