Tokyo: Ambassador Kovač visited Hiroshima
The reason for the visit was the planned performance of the local children's Senda Pan Flute Choir in Novi Sad during the following year, which was also an opportunity to strengthen ties with Hiroshima.
During a courtesy meeting with the Mayor of Hiroshima Matsui Kazumi, Ambassador Kovač informed him about the efforts that Serbia was making for preserving peace and stability in the region, the results of strengthening bilateral political dialogue and economic cooperation with Japan, as well as about the ties Serbia nurtured with Hiroshima.
She commented the occasion of her visit and expressed a hope that the visit of the children's choir from the centre of Hiroshima in Novi Sad would further contribute to strengthening the relations between the two countries and peoples, which this year were celebrating the anniversary of 140 years of friendship.
Ambassador Kovač also spoke with Toshihiro Toya, Deputy Director of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, toured the permanent exhibition, as well as the memorial monument in the Peace Memorial Park, where she laid flowers.
As part of the visit, Ambassador Kovač held a lecture on Serbia and bilateral relations with Japan at the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Minami.
As a sign of gratitude for Ambassador Kovač's visit, the choir performed several compositions, and the choir director announced plans for their visit to Novi Sad.
