Stevanović: Dialogue is the only way to build trust
At the session of the UN Security Council, Stevanović called on everyone in B&H to reduce tensions and talk, and pointed out that Serbia wants peace.
"The most important thing is for the key factors in B&H, both domestic and international, to show responsibility. Serbia supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of B&H, we support any agreement reached between the entities and the three constituent peoples", Stevanović said.
He pointed out that Serbia expects an impartial and balanced approach from the international community to these issues.
"We believe that dialogue within the institutions in B&H is the only way to build trust and reach a compromise", Stevanović said.
He also pointed out that Serbia believes that the decision on the Office of the High Representative of the international community should be made in the spirit of cooperation and respect for all world factors and with the consensus of the members of the UN Security Council.
"Serbia will continue to be included in the most constructive way, as we have done in the past", said the Serbian ambassador.
He added that Serbia would support all agreements reached by the two entities and oppose solutions that were not reached by consensus.
"The road to the future is paved with good neighborly relations and active cooperation in the region. Serbia will continue to encourage all political factors in B&H to continue the path in that direction", Stevanović said.
He assessed that the "Open Balkans" initiative is a great example of how cooperation between neighboring countries is possible.
"We are strongly convinced that an agreement can be reached if there is tolerance, trust and respect", Stevanović said.
He reminded that the war and conflicts ended a long time ago and assessed that that chapter of history was closed, as well as that all countries have moved forward.
