Skopje: Ambassador Jovanović with Mayor of Bitola Municipality Toni Konjanovski
During the meeting, it was noted that bilateral relations between the two countries were at a very high level, with the assessment that such cooperation should be further expanded, primarily in the field of trade, agriculture, culture, and that it would be useful to make the most of the current upgrade in relations between Serbia and North Macedonia to connect and bring together the local self-governments of the two countries.
Ambassador Jovanović pointed out the excellent bilateral relations between Serbia and North Macedonia, which was the result of responsible thinking and actions of the political leaders of the two countries, who recognised the importance of rapprochement and regional cooperation. In this context, she expressed her satisfaction that the Open Balkan initiative, thanks to the concrete results it produced in a short time, was strongly supported by the Macedonian public, just as it was the case in Serbia.
The Ambassador especially thanked the interlocutor for the attitude of the Municipality of Bitola towards the local Serbian community, assessing that the members of the Serbian community in the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as the Macedonian national minority in Serbia, represented a bridge that further connected the two friendly countries.
The Mayor of the Municipality of Bitola used the opportunity to once again thank the Republic of Serbia and President Aleksandar Vučić for the help provided in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, when the Republic of Serbia was among the first to send a contingent of Covid-19 vaccines to North Macedonia, and also enabled the citizens of North Macedonia to be vaccinated on the territory of Serbia.
