The Embassy of Serbia in Bucharest hosted the football players of OFK Belgrade
OFK Belgrade will play a friendly match on 7 July 2021, and the reason is the opening of the new FC Steaua stadium. The two clubs played their last friendly match in 1974 when FC Steaua also opened a new stadium.
On that occasion, Ambassador Stefan Tomašević, addressing the football players and the club's management, pointed out that the friendly match between OFK Belgrade and FC Steaua Bucharest is an exceptional proof of friendship both between the two clubs and the Serbian and Romanian people.
The ambassador pointed out that the tradition of Serbian clubs visiting Romania continues and reminded that BSK, today's OFK Belgrade, was a guest in the Romanian capital in 1922, as part of the wedding ceremony of King Aleksandar Karađorđević and the Romanian Princess, and later Serbian Queen Maria.
Tomašević said that he hoped that this friendly tradition would be continued in the future and thanked the club's management and football players for responding to the invitation to visit the Embassy, wishing them success in tomorrow's game, as well as in future competitions.
The President of the Board of Directors of OFK Belgrade thanked for the warm welcome and invited the representatives of the Embassy to attend the friendly match and give support to the football players of OFK Belgrade.
