Đorđević: Malicious allegations against Serbian Embassy in B&H
The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aleksandar Đorđević, issued a statement with regards to media reporting, primarily individual portals at B&H, related to the invitation of the Chairman of the B&H Presidency, Željko Komšić to the meeting, which, as it is said, got some strange proportions.
I feel obliged, for the first time in almost three years of serving the office of the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in B&H to issue this statement, since I believe that it is necessary to present the truth, regardless of the circumstances such as the repercussions of its cognition. The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia on 13th September at 10AM received the invitation and an employee of the Embassy responded to it (the invitation was addressed to a Mr. Vuletić) with the request to meet Željko Komšić for a discussion at 11AM – says Đorđević in the statement.
He says that the topic of the discussion was not mentioned.
Having said that I was not able to accept such sudden invitation to a meeting, at 10.20 AM the invitation was repeated by the Chief of Staff of Željko Komšić saying that it might be rather unpleasant since I was invited by the President, and I rejected it and that the media would write about that. Surely, the topic of the meeting was not mentioned, but I was invited to “meet him for a coffee”, says Đorđević.
The allegations that around 11 AM at certain portals the news appeared on, as it says, some his rejection of the meeting with Komšić, with regards to the arrest of a certain person in Serbia.
I believe that I am obliged to issue a statement, to draw attention that as the Ambassador of Serbia in B&H I observe regulations and all international conventions which regulate the diplomatic status. I respect the host country, B&H. I emphasize that the manner of communication in diplomatic circles is very precise, so the protocol is well known to and professionally conducted by the MFA of B&H – says Đorđević.
He asks the employees from the office of Željko Komšić, if they do not know it, to contact competent services of the MFA of B&H, to, as he says, solve their doubts with them, not via the media.
As the Ambassador of Serbia, I will not allow the abuse of my country and me personally by any political agent for his/her own political purposes violating at the same time all codified customs which regulate the diplomatic status. I would like to mention that the allegations of the portal that via my secretary I said, I quote, that I “wouldn’t want to come”, are inaccurate, malicious and aimed at generating of inconveniences toward the Embassy of Serbia in Sarajevo, which to say the least is unfair and malicious. I will inform representatives of the diplomatic community in B&H about everything stated because such conduct deserves its attention – says Đorđević.
To remind, certain media outlets from the Federation of B&G published that the Ambassador of Serbia in B&H, Aleksandar Đorđević refused to appear for a discussion at the Presidency of B&H upon the invitation of the Chairman Željko Komšić.
