Beijing: Ambassador Stefanović talks with Deputy Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China
Deputy Director-General of the Department of European Affairs Zheng congratulated Ambassador Stefanović on her appointment as the Ambassador of Serbia to China. He said he was certain that she, with her knowledge of China, would considerably contribute to the strengthening of the relations between the two countries, and assured her that she would have the Ministry’s full support in that regard. Ambassador Stefanović stated that she was particularly pleased and honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility of being the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to China, and that she was ready to invest her best efforts to strengthening the overall relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Stefanović and Deputy Director-General Zheng concurred that relations between Serbia and China were at their highest point in history, and that the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries could be deepened. They stressed that the further development of overall relations between the two countries was particularly boosted and improved by the friendly relations between President Aleksandar Vučić and President Xi Jinping, and expressed a mutual expectation that the Chinese President would again visit Serbia when the epidemiological situation improves.
The two exchanged opinions on the opportunities for intensifying economic, financial, and investment cooperation between the two countries, stating their determination that a Free Trade Agreement should be concluded as soon as possible. Ambassador Stefanović and Deputy Director-General Zheng said that the planned establishment of a direct airline between Serbia and China would contribute to the overall trade in all areas.
Ambassador Stefanović reaffirmed Serbia’s full commitment to the Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries and the implementation of the Chinese Belt and Road initiative, and its readiness for further execution of agreed projects, particularly singling out the project of modernisation of the Belgrade–Budapest railway. In addition, they confirmed the mutual readiness for strengthening cooperation in the fields of culture, education, agriculture, science, and technology.
