Beijing: Ambassador Stefanović at the 13th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum
More than 1,300 participants gathered at the forum, including government representatives, over 20 financial institutions, 70 largest contractors and about 600 infrastructure companies from across the globe.
Ambassador Stefanović gave a presentation in video format at the first panel of the Forum, dedicated to policies and measures aimed at improving the construction of high-standard sustainable infrastructure.
She introduced the main directions of development of traffic and digital infrastructure in Serbia, and emphasised the role and commitment of the Government of the Republic of Serbia to the development of infrastructure as a prerequisite for economic development. Ambassador Stefanović emphasised the successful cooperation between Serbia and Chinese companies in that field, citing the cooperation between Serbia and the company China Road and Bridge as the best example. This company, in addition to the bridge construction in Belgrade, is also involved in the construction of the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway project, as well as other infrastructure projects in Serbia. At the same time, bearing in mind the participation of representatives of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) at the Forum, as well as the fact that Serbia has been a member of the bank since 2019, she conveyed Serbia’s interest and willingness to participate in bank’s projects and programs.
AIIB vice-president Danny Alexander, vice-president of China Communications Construction Company Chen Zhong, vice-president of Power Construction Corporation of China Xiaojun Wang, vice-president of the New Development Bank Qiangwu Zhou, secretary of the Board of Directors of China Exim Bank Guo Lei, also spoke on the panel and emphasised the importance of infrastructure connectivity, especially in the current global climate.
