Within the regular meetings with the representatives of the American Congress, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States of America, Marko Đurić, talked with the democratic Congressmen Bill Keating and Gerry Connolly.

In addition to discussing current developments in international foreign policy and opportunities for further development of bilateral cooperation between Serbia and the United States, Ambassador Đurić informed Congressmen Keating and Connolly about the situation in the recently continued dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina under the auspices of the European Union.

Đurić also conveyed serious concerns about the increasing number of incidents and attacks on Serbs and their property, as well as the churches and cultural goods in Kosovo and Metohija.

"Despite the discouraging messages coming from Pristina, our team, led by President Aleksandar Vučić and the director of the Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković, will continue to advocate for stability and respect for every agreement. Belgrade has proved both internally and externally that it keeps its word and that it is a negotiating side which can be trusted", Đurić emphasized.

Among the topics of conversation were the positive course of reforms and the achieved successes of Serbia in the economic field, and experiences were exchanged in the implementation of mass vaccination of the population and the fight against the COVID-19 virus.

As a representative of the state of Massachusetts, Congressman Bill Keating chairs the Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, Energy and Environment at the House Foreign Affairs Committee, while Gerry Connolly is the chairman of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and a member of the Foreign Policy Committee, where he represents the state of Virginia.
