Political relations
Bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Slovak Republic are very good and substantial. Political dialogue at all levels is intensive and continuous. A special contribution to the development of bilateral relations is made by the Slovak national minority in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the Serbian national minority in the Slovak Republic.
On June 2, 2022, former President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić participated in the GLOBSEC 2022 Bratislava Forum in Bratislava, having previously attended the GLOBSEC 2019 Conference in Bratislava on June 7, 2019. President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met with former Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová during the V4 Summit in an expanded format, which was held in Lány (near Prague) on October 3, 2019, within the framework of the Czech presidency of the V4.
President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia on December 21–22, 2025.
Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia on November 21, 2024, during which a Business Forum was organized with the participation of numerous Slovak and Serbian businesspeople.
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met with Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico on the sidelines of the Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels on March 21, 2024. President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met with former Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Eduard Heger on the sidelines of the EU–Western Balkans Summit in Slovenia on October 6, 2021. Then-Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić paid an official visit to the Slovak Republic in April 2015. Then-Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić paid an official visit to the Slovak Republic on December 11, 2018. Then-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Vladimir Orlić met with former Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Boris Kollár on the sidelines of the Conference of Speakers of EU Parliaments in Prague on April 25, 2023. Then-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojković participated in a meeting of the Speakers of Parliaments of the Slavkov Format (Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic) in an expanded format (S3+) in Bratislava on February 12–13, 2020. Then-Speaker of the Parliament of the Slovak Republic Andrej Danko paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia on June 6–7, 2018.
The first bilateral meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Juraj Blanár took place on the sidelines of the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the "Friends of the Western Balkans" and Western Balkans Foreign Ministers in Göttweig, Austria, on June 21, 2024. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić paid an official visit to the Slovak Republic on May 30, 2026.
Then-First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić held a bilateral meeting with former Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Rastislav Káčer on the sidelines of the conference "Safety of Journalists: Protecting Media to Protect Democracy" in Vienna on November 4, 2022.
Then-Foreign Minister Nikola Selaković met with former Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Rastislav Káčer on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23, 2022. Nikola Selaković also met with then-State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Martin Klus on the sidelines of the 132nd Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Turin on May 19–20, 2022.
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Juraj Blanár visited the Republic of Serbia on October 18, 2024. During this visit, the Honorary Consulate of the Slovak Republic in Bački Petrovac was officially opened, and a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic was signed.
Minister of Interior of the Slovak Republic Matúš Šutaj Eštok visited the Republic of Serbia, where he held talks on June 13, 2025, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić, who subsequently paid a reciprocal visit to the Slovak Republic on June 8–9, 2026.
Minister of Defense of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Bratislav Gašić paid an official visit to the Slovak Republic on May 30, 2026, where he met first with Prime Minister Robert Fico and then with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Robert Kaliňák.
Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Richard Sulík visited the Republic of Serbia on October 8, 2021. Then-Foreign Minister Nikola Selaković visited the Slovak Republic on October 28–29, 2021. Former Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korčok visited Serbia on February 8, 2021. Former State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ingrid Brocková visited the Republic of Serbia on April 26–27, 2021. Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić visited the Slovak Republic in December 2018. Then-Speaker of the Parliament of the Slovak Republic Andrej Danko visited the Republic of Serbia in June 2018. Former Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini visited the Republic of Serbia in May 2019. Then-Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák visited the Republic of Serbia in June 2019.
Political consultations at the level of State Secretaries of the Foreign Ministries of Serbia (State Secretary D. Jović) and Slovakia (State Secretary M. Eštok) were held in Bratislava on October 16, 2025, and previously in Belgrade on October 11, 2024. Prior to that, bilateral consultations between the two foreign ministries were held in Bratislava in October 2018.
Economic relations
There is mutual interest and space for improving economic cooperation.
According to the data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, total trade in goods with the Slovak Republic in 2025 amounted to EUR 1.32 billion, of which exports from the Serbia accounted for EUR 0.85 billion, while imports amounted to EUR 0.47 billion.
The leading Slovak investor is Amphenol Automotive Technology (automotive industry, Trstenik, EUR 4 million), which employs around 1,000 workers. Then follows: Tatravagonka a.s. Poprad (metal industry, Subotica, EUR 7.4 million), Aqua Therm Invest / Petroland (tourism, Bački Petrovac EUR 21 million), BGS Alfa BP BGS Beta BP BGS Gama BP (energy/biogas, Bač), Credo agency (energy / mini hydropower plant, Niš 2 million euros), Koliba zp s.r.o. (food, Rekovac), Prima Energy / Beočin Energy (energy / solar power plant, Belgrade), Biopel (pellet production, Bački Petrovac), ATI-Terming (machinery, Kula), DSC/ Black Horse (automotive, Sombor).
The Slovak company Inobat has expressed interest in building a battery factory for electric vehicles in Serbia (a plant in Serbia should be opened by 2025).
