Political relations
On February 22 and 23, 2022, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, paid a first official visit to the Principality of Monaco at the invitation of Prince Albert II of Monaco. On this occasion, Prince Albert II of Monaco decorated the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, with the Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Charles. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, also visited the Principality of Monaco within the delegation of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. On that occasion, on February 22, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Monaco Isabelle Berro-Amadeï signed the Framework Agreement on Cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Principality of Monaco.
Bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Principality of Monaco are good and progress is being made. At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, Prince Albert II of Monaco paid an official visit to Serbia on 7 and 8 October 2020. This was the first official visit of Prince Albert II to Serbia since diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 2007. President Vučić awarded Prince Albert II the Order of the Republic of Serbia on the ribbon for his exceptional merits in developing and strengthening peaceful cooperation and friendly relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Principality of Monaco. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, and Prince Albert II of Monaco met on the side-lines of the 50th session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, held from 20 to 24 January 2020. The Minister od Foreign Affairs N. Selaković met with the then MFA of the Principality of Monaco L. Anslemi at the OSCE Ministerial Meeting in Stockholm on 2 December 2021.
The two countries are connected by membership in the International Organization of Francophonie, in which Monaco has the status of a full member, and Serbia an associate member.
Economic relations
Economic cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Principality of Monaco is based on a modest exchange of goods, although it has almost tripled in the last five years. In 2021. the value of the total trade was 697 thousand euros and is almost four times higher than in 2020. Exports worth 514 thousand euros increased five and a half times (growth of 449.3%) compared to the previous year, while the value of imports doubled - 183 thousand euros and recorded a growth of 116.7%. Surplus on the side of the Republic of Serbia amounted to 331 thousand euros, and the coverage of imports by exports was at the level of 280.9%. In 2020, the total trade amounted to 178 thousand euros, of which exports amounted to 94 thousand euros and imports to 84 thousand euros.
Bilateral agreements
Three agreements have been signed between the Republic of Serbia and the Principality of Monaco:
Framework Agreement on Cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Principality of Monaco, Visa Waiver Agreement between the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Principality of Monaco, and the Agreement on Cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia and the Chamber of Commerce of Monaco.
